On the afternoon of October 3rd, Anhui University of Technology held a Tea Party for 2017 International students at Ethnic Restaurant of East campus to celebrate National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival. The participants include vice president Gu Mingyan, staff of School of International Education, staff of logistics department, teachers and roughly 200 international students from 40 countries. The party was hosted by Dai Junxia-dean of School of International Education.
Vice president Gu extended warm welcome to all international students and gave a brief introduction of Mid-Autumn Festival, mainly on its history and customs. In the meantime, she encouraged them to actively take part in the cultural activities to adapt to college life, study harder and be the messenger of cross-cultural communication.
Representing all the old students, Ali, coming from Yemen, expressed the heartfelt gratitude for AHUT and the strong interest they take in Chinese culture. Javokhir, from Uzbekistan,also spoke of the precious opportunities to study in China and the great expectations for the stay here on behalf of all new students.
All international students gathered together, enjoyed the mooncakes, fruits and other desserts specially prepared for them and shared their new experiences. After the buffet in the evening, students started to sing and dance to the music and made performances with the characteristics of their own nations.
The Tea Party aims to help international students to spend a joyful vacation, have a better understanding of Chinese culture and better fit in the new life here.
