Professor QIU Shengtao Apppointed as AHUT Specially Engaged Professor

Professor QIU Shengtao, doctor-degree supervisor and deputy director of National Engineering Research Center for Continuous Casting Technology, Central Iron & Steel Research Institute (CISRI), has been appointed as the Specially Engaged Professor of Anhui University of Technology. The induction ceremony was held at AHUT Conference Center on the morning of May 3, which was hosted by the dean of School of Metllurgical Engineering and Resources, Professor WANG Jianjun.

On behalf of the university, VP Professor LIN Zhonggao delivered the speech  to welcome Professor QIU to be part of the university, signed the contract and conferred the certificate to Professor QIU Shengtao.    

Professor QIU Shengtao graduated from East China University of Technology (the former name of Anhui University of Technology) in July 1987 with his bachelor degree in engineering. In July 1990, he gradudated from Beijing University of Science and Technology with his master degree. Since April 1994 he won his doctor degree from Central Iron & Steel Research Institute and has been working for the CISRI. Currently he is the deputy director of National Engineering Research Center for Continuous Casting Technology, Central Iron & Steel Research Institute (CISRI) with research interests in fundamental theory research in metallurgical materials technology and development. He has ever chaired or co-chaired 9 projects in National Key (Support) Projects in Science and Technology, 2 key projects in Natural Science Research, 2 for 863 Projects and 2 for 973 Projects. He has won 3 provincial-level progress awards in science and technology and published over 40 papers, 13 patents including 2 invention patents and 2 published works. In 2006, he was granted The Second Youth Award in Metallurgical Science and Technology and enjoyed the state council’s special allowances in 2007.
