The 7th China Metallurgical College Deans and Discipline Forum was held at Anhui University of Technology from Nov 15 to 18.
More than 70 experts and scholars from 37 metallurgical colleges and universities and research institutes from home and abroad, 200 teachers and students from AHUT joined in the forum including Academician Yin Ruiyu from Chinese Academy of Engineering, Professor Su Tiansen, Deputy Secretary General from Chinese Monetary Society, Director Zhu Wangxi from the Engineering and Material Science Division of National Natural Science Fundation of China and Professor Yang Yongxiang from Technische Universiteit Delft, Netherland.
On the morning of Nov. 16, Vice President Professor Wei Xianwen from Anhui University of Technology presided over the opening ceremony at AHUT conference center and introduced the leaders and experts attending the forum. Professor Lan Yujie, Chairman of University Council of AHUT expressed his warmest welcome to all the forum representatives. Vice president Jiang Maofa from Northeastern University introduced the background related to this forum.
In the special reports session, co-chaired by Vice President Jiang Maofa from Northeastern University and Assistant to the President Professor Li Jie from Central South University, Academician Duan Ruiyu made a keynote speech on “Manufacturing Process of the New Gerenation Iron and Steel”. Professor Su Tianseng gave a special report on New Development on Scientific and Technological Innovation of Iron and Steel Industry. Professor Zhang Lifeng from University of Science and Technology Beijing made a speech on Brief to the Metallurgical Discipline’s Development in American Universities, and professor Yang Yongxiang made a speech on Brief to the Metallurgical Discipline’s Development in European Universities.
At the forum, the representatives discussed the current situation and trend of metallurgical discipline’s development, and ways to match different-level talents’ training with the current higher education and national economic development.
The Dean Forum Prospectus, the Dean Scholarship Prospectus and Forum Young Teacher Award Prospectus have also been discussed and developed at the forum.
In addition, 6 teachers from 49 candidates recommended by 20 colleges and universities have been awarded “Metallurgical College Deans Award for Young Teachers” and 9 teachers won the award nominations.
Furthermore, the forum voted Wuhan University of Science and Technology as the forum’s organizer in 2014. The Vice President Professor Zhu Liguang from Hebei United University, the next organizer of the forum held in 2013, presided over the closing ceremony and extended his sincere invitation to the forum representatives.
