Exciting news came about the 17th RoboCup World Cup June 30 from Eindhoven, the Netherlands that AHUT Team named Yushan 2013 won the 3rd place in the final at the 2D Simulation League. The breakthrough has greatly encouraged the teachers and students from School of Computer Science and Engineering as well as those from other schools.
It is reported that 24 teams from Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Iran,Japan, Portugal, Romania, US participated in the competitions of the 2D Simulation League. Yushan2013 ranked the first both in qualifying and group competitions, which enabled the team to run among TOP16. After fierce competitions, the team won the 3rd place in the final. The team WrightEagle from University of Science and Technology, China ranked the first and the team HELIOS2O13 from Japan won the second.
RoboCup(Robot World Cup)has been listed as one of the highest-level and most influential robot competitions in the world, which is designed to meet the need of handling real world complexities, though in a limited world, while maintaining an affordable problems size and research cost. RoboCup offers an integrated research task covering the broad areas of AI and robotics. The world leading universities including Carnegie - Mellon University, Cornell University, Stanford University, the University of New South Wales, Tokyo University, Nanyang Technological University, University of Amsterdam, University of Dortmund, and Tsinghua University, University of Science and Technology, China and Zhejiang University are all actively involved in the cup.
AHUT YuShan Team was formed in 2009. In recent years, the team has made remarkable achievements with the efforts both from the teachers, students and the university top. The team was listed as the first-tier at RoboCup China Public in 2011, ranked the 7th at the 16th RoboCup in Mexico and won the 3rd place at 2013 RoboCup in Tehran, Iran.
