A research team from AHUT‘s School of Materials Science and Engineering has joined a National Key R&D Project of the 14th Five-Year Plan, focusing on high-performance, lightweight, and low-cost key materials for high-end agricultural machinery.

    A research team from AHUT’s School of Materials Science and Engineering is participating in a National Key R&D Project under the 14th Five-Year Plan, titled “High-performance, Lightweight, Low-cost Key Materials for High-end Agricultural Machinery Equipment.” The project was officially launched at a kick-off and implementation plan meeting held in Beijing on March 29, 2025.

    Led by the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Mechanization Sciences, the project brings together a consortium of eight institutions, including AHUT, Shougang Group, Henan University of Science and Technology, and Woden Machinery. With a total national research grant of 15.89 million RMB, the project aims to address critical bottlenecks in the development of core materials for China’s high-end agricultural machinery industry, focusing on high performance, lightweight design, and cost reduction.

    The AHUT team, from the Key Laboratory of Green Preparation and Surface Technology of Advanced Metallic Materials (Ministry of Education), is led by Professor Zheng Jun, Deputy Director of the Laboratory. The team is responsible for four sub-projects, including research on the interfacial behavior and adaptability of diamond composite coatings, with a national research grant of 2.32 million RMB. Their work focuses on key components of harvesters and rice transplanters, aiming to achieve lightweight design and low-cost manufacturing of critical parts, thereby supporting the full lifecycle cost reduction and efficiency improvement of agricultural machinery.
