On September 15, ShanghaiRanking, a professional higher education evaluation agency, officially released Shanghai Ranking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) 2026.Anhui University of Technology (AHUT)made another historic breakthrough in discipline development, with nine disciplines entering the rankings, tying for second among provincial universities in terms of the number of ranked disciplines.
AHUT’s ranked disciplines this year are mainly engineering disciplines with established strengths, covering a full range of key fields, including Metallurgical Engineering, Control Science and Engineering, Instrument Science and Technology, Chemical Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Energy Science and Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Nanoscience and Technology, and Chemistry. This achievement fully demonstrates the substantial progressmade by AHUT through its longstanding commitment to strengthening its distinctive engineering strengths, advancingquality-oriented development, and optimizing its disciplinary structure.
In terms of global rankings, Metallurgical Engineering placed in the 101–150 range, while Control Science and Engineering ranked 151–200. Instrument Science and Technology and Chemical Engineering entered the 201–300 range. Artificial Intelligence, Chemistry, Energy Science and Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, and Nanoscience and Technology were ranked in the 301–400 range.
The overall line up of AHUT’s ranked disciplines has continued to improve. Among them, Metallurgical Engineering, as a traditional advantageous and distinctive discipline of our university, has a strong academic foundation and well-established advantages, continuing to maintain strong international competitiveness. Key engineering disciplines, including Control Science and Engineering, Instrument Science and Technology, and Chemical Engineering, have steadily enhanced their quality and expanded their influence. Emerging interdisciplinary fields, such as Artificial Intelligence and Nanoscience and Technology, have newlyentered the rankings, marking a breakthrough in the University’s disciplinary development.Together, these achievementssignal the emergence of a positive pattern in which AHUT’s traditional advantageous disciplines are continuously consolidated while emerging inter disciplinary disciplines are accelerating their rise.
