On the morning of August 31, Lu Lin, Secretary of the University CPC Committee; Zeng Jie, Deputy Secretary of the University CPC Committee and President; Wang Jun, Deputy Secretary of the University CPC Committee; Zheng Xiao, Vice President; and Min Fanfei, Zheng Liping and Zhang Shihong, Members of the Standing Committee of the University CPC Committee and Vice Presidents, went to teaching frontlines at Xiushan and Jiashan Campuses. They conducted a full inspection of teaching operations, classroom discipline and conduct, faculty readiness, student attendance, teaching facility maintenance, and logistics support on the first day of the new semester. They also attended the first classes of the semester together with teachers and students.
Lu Lin sat in on Mechanical Design taught by Zhang Peng from the School of Mechanical Engineering. He commended the instructor for thorough pre-class preparation, effective classroom organization, and successful integration of ideological and political education into the curriculum. He emphasized that as the university enters a critical stage in building a strong educational nation and implementing the 15th Five-Year Plan, the entire institution must adhere to the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. The university must keep talent cultivation as its central task, proactively adapt to the trends of higher education in the new era, align closely with national strategies and social development needs, continuously improve its talent training system, optimize education at all links, and enhance the quality and relevance of talent development. He urged all faculty to uphold the mission of nurturing talent for the Party and the country, refine their teaching, integrate value guidance throughout instruction, and raise the standard of classroom education. He encouraged students to cherish their time, pursue high aspirations, develop strong professional competence, and integrate personal development into national construction.
Zeng Jie attended Energy and Environment Academic English I (Fundamentals) taught by Zhu Jun from the School of Foreign Languages. He praised the quality of classroom delivery and the high spirits of teachers and students. He noted that classrooms are the main platform for talent training, and high-quality teaching is fundamental to the university’s development. All instructors must focus on their teaching responsibilities, optimize course content and design, integrate research achievements, practical cases, and disciplinary advances into lectures, move beyond purely theoretical teaching, and strengthen professional and practical learning. Two-way interaction between teachers and students must be enhanced to ensure effective teaching and address shortcomings promptly. The university will continue to prioritize teaching, improve academic and teaching ethics, foster a positive educational environment, and raise the overall quality of talent cultivation.
Wang Jun, Zheng Xiao, Min Fanfei, Zheng Liping and Zhang Shihong respectively observed Principles of Management B by Cao Xinfu, Physical Education 3 by Chen Mingqiao, Layout Design by Xia Yuqing, Big Data Management: Methods and Applications by Wei Wei, Engineering Mechanics C by Gao Weilang, and Electrotechnics 2 by Zhou Hong. University leaders held cordial discussions with teachers and students to gather feedback on curriculum development, teaching innovation, practical teaching implementation, students’ learning needs, and improvements to teaching services.
On the first day of the new semester, 235 courses were offered across the two campuses, delivered by 187 instructors to approximately 18,903 students. The Office of Academic Affairs, together with the Office of University CPC Committee (Office of the President), Office of Student Affairs, Office of Security, Office of Information Technology and Office of Logistics, fully prepared for the semester by ensuring teaching support, equipment testing and logistics services. Joint inspections of teaching and learning standards were conducted by the University Undergraduate Teaching Supervision Export Group, Office of Academic Affairs, Office of Student Affairs and Office of Faculty Affairs. Inspections showed faculty members at their posts, students attending classes attentively, and all teaching facilities operating properly — a solid start to the new academic year.
