In order to promote the learning of Chinese characters, enjoy the beauty of Chinese Hard-pen calligraphy and feel the charm of profound Chinese culture, SIE held the competition of writing Chinese hard-pen calligraphy with the theme “Tasting the Poems and Writing the Characters”.
The competition has aroused extensive attention and active participation of all international students of SIE, who showed their enthusiasm for Chinese hard-pen calligraphy through their works. There were in all 49 works selected for the final round of competition, which also ran for an online voting round. According to the statistics, the total pageview has reached 11982 with the number of votes reached 5,081. The most appreciated work has received the highest votes, which was 1123.
The competition asked participants to choose one poem from the designated ones to show their Chinese hard-pen calligraphy. After a comprehensive evaluation from both students and teachers of SIE, Ahad Abdallah from Electrical Engineering in the class of 2018 won the first prize. Shariful from Electrical Engineering in the class of 2018 and Fallah Aulia from International Trade in the class of 2018 won the second prize. The third prize went to Kavita AP from Pharmaceutical Engineering in the class of 2018, Alvira from International Trade in the class of 2018 and Sofiya from International Trade in the class of 2017.
The hard-pen calligraphy competition stimulated international students’ interests in learning Chinese, enriched their extracurricular cultural life, promoted the beauty of Chinese culture, and further developed their sense of belonging to AHUT and Chinese cultural identity.
